“I’m glad he chose her”

The short story behind the inspiration is shortly after Crono and Marle get married, Lucca and Glenn have some down time together. After a long day of working and taking care of Kidd, Lucca muses how she’s lonely and kind of had a crush on Crono at one point. Glenn listens patiently then proceeds to tell her he’s glad that Crono chose Marle and not her… cause that means he gets a shot with Lucca ^.^

I feel proud cause I worked hard on this and actually went so far as to colour sample from the Chrono Trigger ending to get the characters’ colours correct. Something I wonder if anyone else picked up on… in the original SNES version of CT you had to refuse Magus as a character in order to get Frog to change back to normal… in the PS and NDS versions of it… the ending movie implies no matter if you decide to go with Magus or not, Frog changes back into a human.

I’m reluctant to draw Glenn with that ending haircut… he reminds me of Gohan from DBZ with it……….. We will see.

Thunder cracked as the rain poured down on them. Spots began to form on her glasses, as she put her head down to avoid further obstruction of her view of him.

“Why did you come back? HOW did you come back?!” Lucca cried, trying to control her voice. She couldn’t quite understand the swell of emotions stirring in her heart at that time. A part of her was angry he ever went through the gate to begin with, another side of her was afraid of what his prolonged presence there would do to the present, and yet somewhere deep within her she was overjoyed and relieved to see him.

Taken off guard by her outburst, Glenn recomposed himself then spoke, “Thine guess is as good as mine, Lucca.”

“So what? You just went to sleep in your armor and you were packed and woke up in Leene Square?!”

“No.” he stated. Lucca blinked and shook her head in disbelief.

“Then… how did you come back here without the Epoch?”

“Like thee had thine own unwaivering desire to change the history of thine mother, I hath the unwaivering desire to change my future.” Glenn admitted, with focused but adoring eyes, “I hath put the Masamune to rest in the mountain and awoke one night in The Knights Quarters. I saw a blue light that upon investigating found to be a gate. And while I did not know where or when it would take me, I knew I must go through it. Lo and behold, I hath returned here to Guardia Forest near where the ruins of the Cathedral are.”

“But— what about whatever family you may have? What about the King and Queen? What if something happens to them while you’re here?! Marle will—”

“Lucca,” Glenn interrupted, “I told a lieutenant to tell the King and Queen before I left that I was leaving for good. And I took it upon myself to read a history book while celebrating Marle’s father’s innocence found after the Rainbow Shell Trial. I step down from the King and Queens body guard, the lieutenant I told about mine leaving takes my place, and I live out my life in the Cursed Woods, with no family or descendants to carry on mine line. Tell me, Lucca, why should I desire such a fate when one I desire so much more is before me?”

It took a moment for Lucca to process exactly what he was saying. He had come back for her. He had left all he was and all he could have been behind to come to her.

“Glenn… I—” she struggled to find the words, “You… can’t stay here.”

Glenn’s features became taunt, as he took a few quick, long strides and stood before her. Lucca gasped at his closeness to her, he was so close she could feel the heat radiating off of his body, something she never felt from him before. Magus must have decided to be merciful and change him back after he had returned to his time. Had she not seen paintings of Glenn and Cyrus in Guardia Castle, she would have never recognized the matured Glenn. As a frog, he was cold blooded and his body temperature would adjust with his surroundings. She was still amazed at his human form. But now his blood was hot, so hot she could feel it pulsing through him as if it were her own. There’s fire in his veins, she thought to herself, it’s the only way I’m feeling this attached right now.

“Then tell me to leave, Lucca. Order me. I will not go unless thee demands it. One word and we may board the Epoch and take me back.” He murmured.

Lucca felt her head and heart rage a war inside her. Her head screamed to take him back, her heart begged her to let him stay. His expression changed as he looked at her; was he reading her mind? Could he see inside of her? Could he tell how she missed him? Or how she struggled with loneliness ever since Crono got married to Marle and moved far away? She opened her mouth to speak but words refused to form; just a pathetic choking sound came out as her mind went blank.

Glenn, clearly seeing her desired choice, disregarded any logical apprehension she may have tried to pull as an excuse to return him. He grabbed her around the waist then wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pressing her body against his, then taking her lips to his own. Lucca’s arms went up in shock before processing what was happening. Everything about Glenn was intense and passionate, from his fighting to the way he held and kissed her now.

His lips were hot, hotter then her Flare, like kissing liquid fire.

Any last hope she may have had of rationalizing to take him back slipped away as she wrapped her arms around him and pressed against him harder.
